The Government of Western Australia has invited the solar-owning residents of the state to provide feedback on their experience with the solar industry. The Building and Energy Division of the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety is aiming to gain a better understanding of their residents’ solar power journeys.
Electrical Solar Survey
The survey is rather short and should be quick to fill out if you don’t have much to say. It asks the following questions:
=> When was your system installed?
=> How much did you pay for it?
=> What size did you get?
=> What company did you purchase from?
=> What was the Electrical Contractor (EC) number of the company? (“I don’t know” is an option here.)
=> Were you provided an Electrical Safety Certificate after installation?
=> How happy are you with the installation?
=> Do you have anything you’d like to share?
The survey can be submitted anonymously, but you do have the option of providing your contact information if you’d like to be contacted about your experiences. However, the survey does say that you “may” be contacted, so that’s not guaranteed.
Ensuring Proper Service
While the survey doesn’t explicitly state what the government is trying to get out of it, they’re probably looking to crack down on businesses that possibly aren’t operating as they should be.
Though WA residents are likely to receive good service for their solar system installation, that’s not always guaranteed to be the case. Mistakes are bound to happen in any sector, but there are, unfortunately, some shady businesses out there. Just last year, Ausuntech Energy in Perth was fined $6,000 after admitting to having published fake testimonials on their websites. Before hiring a company to install your solar power, make sure to stay safe by doing your research.
For those of you that have already had your solar panels installed, consider completing the survey. It’s helpful for everyone to share your experiences, whether they were good or bad, so that the community knows which companies they’re able to rely on.
